Creativity & Expressive Arts in Play Therapy During Challenging Times (At Home, In Nature and Over a Screen)

Presented by Jamie Lynn Langley, LCSW, RPT-S

A FREE 2.0 CE Workshop (Non-Contact)

Saturday, 11/7/20 9am-11:15m PST

Workshop Description: As the pandemic continues, play therapists are often confronted with unique ways to provide play therapy- such as limiting supplies, seeing clients over tele-health, or exploring outdoor options. This presentation incorporates the therapeutic powers of play and explores how and why creativity can be utilized within play therapy despite challenging circumstances to meet the needs of clients of all ages.

Workshop Objectives: After the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss how creativity is good for the brain from a neuroscience perspective to be adapted in play therapy activities.
  2. Describe why and how expressive arts are integrated within play therapy.
  3. Determine at least three therapeutic powers of play that are enacted via creative activities and expressive arts in play
    therapy.
  4. Utilize at least three creative/expressive activities that can be included in play therapy using common household
    supplies and/or items from nature.

Presenter: Jamie Lynn Langley, LCSW, RPT-S is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor in Smyrna, TN, right outside of Nashville.
